Torus Mandibularis and Torus Palatinus, also known as Tori, are two types of harmless bony growths that can appear in different parts of the mouth. They are generally painless but can cause discomfort or interfere with the fit of certain dental appliances.
Surgical removal of Torus Mandibularis or Torus Palatinus growths can be carried out in our clinic by our Maxillofacial Surgeon to ensure optimal oral health and comfort.

Torus Mandibularis – appears on the inner side of the lower jaw, near the premolars. These growths are usually hard and may feel either smooth or slightly rough. While their exact cause is unknown, they are believed to result from genetic factors and local stress on the jawbone. Most people with Torus Mandibularis do not have symptoms,

Torus Palatinus – appears on the roof of the mouth, along the midline of the hard palate. Like Torus Mandibularis, its cause is unclear, but genetics and factors such as teeth grinding may contribute. Torus Palatinus is usually symptom-free and discovered during routine dental exams.

However, if you notice any unusual growths or experience discomfort in your mouth, please consult with us immediately. Regular check-ups are essential for maintaining oral health and addressing any concerns early on.
